Spring is officially here! Last night some of Australia’s biggest faces in modelling came together to launch the David Jones Spring / Summer 2016 collection. Jesinta Campbell, Gemma Ward, Jessica Gomes and Montana Cox all graced the runway showing off the latest collections from some of my favourite Aussie designers; Ellery, Romance Was Born, Zimmermann and Ginger & Smart.
Bright, bold prints took center stage with flirty lace and bellowing sleeve detailing also featuring heavily. Pastels seem to be the ‘it’ palette this season and our favourite reliable friend, monochrome is back again. Continue reading

The sun was finally shining in Melbourne and what better way to spend a Saturday than a day at the races. After missing most of Winter carnival, my friends Jill Humphries, Bree Laughlin and I all dressed up and headed to Caulfield Racecourse for lunch in the Members Dining room. Continue reading

This season is all about navy! For someone who lives in black most days, I’ve really enjoyed the change up navy has brought to my life. Finally I can justify my shopping addiction as I can wear outfits day-to-day and for racing.
Now I know what you’re thinking… Navy is a little boring!? You are wrong. When you pair it back with a pop colour, navy becomes a real statement and will stand out amongst the other dark Winter looks. I am especially loving mint, fuchsia, wine or white teamed back with navy, as these colours make the navy pop and will translate from Winter racing through to Spring.

Recently I was having coffee with a girlfriend, chatting all things fashion and my upcoming FOTF competitions when she pointed out that most people know what to expect from my outfits. It was actually pretty true!
I love to block – whether it is colour or prints. I can’t get enough of it and I feel I have had some pretty good luck with this concept over the years. It did get me thinking though, I should try something new and push myself creatively. Continue reading

The racing hair do is fast becoming more important and sometimes the difference in a winning look. It is the final element to an outfit, that most people don’t consider until the day of the event, but can stand you ahead of the pack and complete the look you’ve worked so hard to create. Continue reading

In terms of race wear, the word relaxed is quite foreign to me. When I go to the races, I like to go all out with big millinery and a statement dress so for me relaxed race wear was a bit of fun and a challenge. Continue reading

This seasons new emerging trend is black on black – I know, as Anna Wintour would say, ‘Flowers for Spring, how revolutionary’. Black on Black really isn’t anything new, especially if you are from Melbourne, however it’s not a look we often see at the races.
Myer were the first to showcase this look back in August at the Spring/Summer Launch and it had my girlfriends and I talking. I don’t often wear black to the races, as it’s my time to shy away from my day to day blacks and go all out in colour but I couldn’t wait to put an outfit together.

On Thursday evening, Caulfield kick started their Spring Carnival with the annual Spotlight Members Millinery Evening. This year, Jill and Jack, Louise McDonald, Kim Wiebenga, Felicity Northeast, Studio Aniss, Philip Rhodes, Peter Jago and the Human Chameleon were showcased in a runway show and pop up market.
When I arrived, the champagne was already flowing and it was great to see people walking around with hat boxes. This event has always been a favourite of mine as it’s fantastic to see all my favourite milliners in one room and to try on all different shapes and sizes. For me, I try to plan my outfits first and then pair back a headpiece, however this night inspires me and I often work back from the headpiece to create the dream look. Continue reading

With Spring Carnival fast approaching, it’s time to start planning outfits and most importantly headwear. Milliners are booked out sometimes months in advance for extravagant custom headpieces, I am one of those people but this isn’t for everyone.
When I’m not competing in Fashions on the Field, I like to wear minimalist pieces that are easy to match with last minute dresses and are low maintenance throughout the day at the track. This season, we are seeing crowns and headbands taking on a more refined and delicate form, which are really feminine and perfect to pair back with this seasons 70’s trend.
Here are my picks ranging from $12 to $795. Continue reading

Today my Mum and I headed off to Royal Ascot for Day 5 of the event. I honestly don’t know how the Queen does it every day at the age of 89.. It took us 4 days to recover from Day 1!
The Friday and Saturday’s events were completely sold out so we were prepared for a long journey out to the track with our driver George. After 2 hours in the car, we were so excited to walk into the grounds again. Today were we dining in the Sandringham rooms, which faced out onto the track. This was perfect viewing to see our Aussie sprinter Brazen Beau in the Diamond Jubilee that afternoon. Continue reading
