Yesterday was the big day – The Myer National Fashions On The Field final! I was so lucky to be able to experience this moment for a second time, after coming 2nd Runner Up in the 2014 Myer FOTF National final. I never thought I would get this opportunity again!
It had been such a fabulous week; experiencing each day of the carnival with my fellow finalists, riding a horse & carriage in the Melbourne Cup parade and attending the Oaks Day Luncheon with my Mum.
The nerves were definitely building ahead of the big final, especially after watching the amazing outfits during the daily competition. Who would take out the Victorian Final? That was the big question that was making us all nervous! The answer – Holly Stearnes, the winner from Melbourne Cup Day.
After the Victorian winner was announced, we were all called to line up back stage ahead of the final. I thought I would be more nervous at this point, as I am with most competitions, however I was just so excited to go out there and have fun. To be honest, it was probably the most fun on stage I’ve ever had. I was up there with all my new friends and I couldn’t wait to see who would take it out!
The final was over so quickly, after so much build up. When they were about to announce the Top 3, my gut thought was Western Australia, Queensland and Victoria would probably round out the top 3. The 2nd runner up – Victoria, then followed the Runner Up – Western Australia and now who will win. I truly thought after they announced the runner up – who I thought might win, that Queensland was going to take it out. Then the winner was announced… Number 4: NSW!
I was in absolute shock, that’s me! My first thought, I just wanted my Mum to experience this moment with me on stage, as it was just as much her win, as mine. It’s been a dream for the last 5 years and never did I think it would ever happen. What a whirl wind of a moment!
After all the tears and the professional photos, they took me over to my new Lexus RC 200T Sport in bright red. Wow!! I hadn’t looked at the car on the stage all week, as I didn’t want to jinx it and it truly was love at first sight. I am so incredibly lucky to call this car mine!
After celebrating with all my family, partner and friends, we caught the train back to the Sofitel Hotel for a celebration dinner. Even writing this now, I can’t believe it all happened!
