After visiting the Spotlight shoot, my mum and I couldn’t wait to start coming up with new designs and the fun part – shopping for fabric! One of my favourite memories growing up was going on expeditions with my mum to Bayswater Spotlight; draping ourselves in fabric and coming home with new fabrics to play with, so naturally we headed to Bayswater to check out the new range in store.
I found this amazing tropical print fabric that I had my eye on at the shoot and then looked for a bold stripe to pair back with it. Months ago, I had saved an image of a dress by Caroline Constas, which had a similar print clash so I wanted to create my own look with this concept for Sofitel Ladies Day at Flemington.

A few weeks ago, my mum and I were lucky enough to go down to the Spotlight Spring Catalogue shoot to preview what fabrics are coming this Spring Carnival. The photo shoot was at the beautiful venue Greenfields Albert Park with stunning views of the lake – the perfect Spring venue for the shoot.
When we arrived, the shoot was in full swing with so many beautiful outfits made from bright botanical and tropical prints, embellished lace, taffeta and much more. Spring was definitely in the air! Continue reading

Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival has always been a favourite carnival of mine and sadly I’ve missed attending the last couple of years. This year, I decided I wasn’t going to miss another Winter carnival and needed to attend at least one race day to satisfy my need for a Fashions On The Field competition. Stradbroke Day fell on a Melbourne long weekend so my mum and I decided it was time for a mini vacation to get away from the very cold Winter down south.
Stradbroke Day has a black and white theme with a touch of red, which makes the fashion really interesting as everyone always has a very different take. Last year, the winners wore very little red so most followed this lead and only went with a red accessory as their touch. I went for the more risky option of a red velvet turban, earrings and embellishment on my dress and some more daring people went for all red with black and white touches,

Blue Diamond Stakes Day is a favourite race day amongst my group of friends, as it’s the last big event of Summer racing. It was sadly also a farewell for one of our best friend’s who is moving interstate.
Being a Summer race day, whites and soft florals were definitely a hit around the track with bright pops of colour. I opted for a statement sleeve off the shoulder dress for a bit of fun paired a vintage pearl headband my mum made 30 years ago and gold heels.

A long weekend and the chance to go on an adventure with my Mum to another city, was a definite yes from me! The second state final in the Myer Fashions On The Field Competition was to be held at Hobart Cup and it has always been place I have wanted to visit.
As soon as the competition date was announced, my Mum and I started planning an outfit. Yellow has been the colour of the season along with layering and lace detailing trends, so we wanted to create an outfit that could incorporate all these elements. Continue reading

The last day of the carnival is here and my feet are definitely happy to see my sneakers for a while after today! Emirates Stakes Day has always been a favourite of mine, as it’s a little more relaxed and it’s so cute seeing the kids running around dressed up for Junior Fashions On The Field.
After playing around in my wardrobe, I decided to go for an all white off the shoulder look with a fun colour pop of coral. I’ve had this gorgeous Felicity Northeast boater, Ellery statement sleeve top and Sophia Webster heels that I’ve been dying to wear, so today seemed like the perfect occasion.

There’s only a few times a year one of my best friends, Charlotte comes home from overseas so I couldn’t wait to spend Ladies Day again with her this year! The sun was shining and we were ready for a great day, filled with amazing fashion in the finals of the Fashions On The Field competition and fun in the Mumm marquee.
Being ladies day, we both opted for feminine silhouettes and colour palettes. White and gold has been a favourite of mine this season so my mum and I once again whipped up a very last minute outfit for the day. Accompanied by another amazing hair style from the geniuses at Heading Out Hair and Beauty in Fitzroy and my new favourite Kim Weibenga headpiece – the outfit was complete.

It was looking to be a dreary Melbourne Day but nothing was going to stop the fun at biggest racing event on the calendar – Melbourne Cup Day! My very fashionable girl friend, Georgia had come down from the Queensland for the day, which we had been planning for months. From daily chats planning outfits to sharing Pinterest boards, we couldn’t wait for the day to finally come around, especially since we had missed Derby Day! Continue reading

After missing Caulfield Guineas last weekend, I couldn’t wait head to BMW Caulfield Cup Day with my very chic girl friend, Bonnie. Caulfield Cup Day has always been a favourite event of mine, as I’ve had so many amazing memories there – from my first ever Fashions On The Field Competition, way too much fun in the Young Members and Pegasus marquees and my biggest Fashions On The Field win in 2014. The Myer NSW Fashions On the Field competition is traditionally held at Royal Randwick on Spring Champion Stakes day, which is always a tough decision for me as it’s also Caulfield Guineas Day in Melbourne. This year, Myer parted ways with the Australian Turf Club and found a new location for the state final – George St Mall with Royal Randwick holding their own digital competition instead. This meant 3 fashions events to choose from!
I chose to attempt the fashions double in Sydney – George St Mall and the digital competition at Randwick. It was going to be an ‘amazing race’ of Fashions on the Field to be able to do both! Continue reading
