A long weekend and the chance to go on an adventure with my Mum to another city, was a definite yes from me! The second state final in the Myer Fashions On The Field Competition was to be held at Hobart Cup and it has always been place I have wanted to visit.
As soon as the competition date was announced, my Mum and I started planning an outfit. Yellow has been the colour of the season along with layering and lace detailing trends, so we wanted to create an outfit that could incorporate all these elements. Tasmanian racing fashion has always been quite traditional in terms of dress silhouette’s, however I still wanted to be true to my style and wear a bright, loud colour to stand out in the crowd. A sculptured headpiece was also needed to modernise what was becoming a quite classic lady like look. I love to recycling elements of outfits and I had the perfect headpiece already in the wardrobe that would match the dress – it just needed one small colour change to the quills!
The fashions at Hobart Cup was exceptional, with so many worthy winners. I was lucky to make the Top 10 on the day, but the real win was getting to explore the sights of Hobart with my Mum. I will definitely be coming back next year!
