After missing Caulfield Guineas last weekend, I couldn’t wait head to BMW Caulfield Cup Day with my very chic girl friend, Bonnie. Caulfield Cup Day has always been a favourite event of mine, as I’ve had so many amazing memories there – from my first ever Fashions On The Field Competition, way too much fun in the Young Members and Pegasus marquees and my biggest Fashions On The Field win in 2014.The fashion at Caulfield has always been a little more classic and tailored, however over recent years we have seen the fashion become more daring and youthful with the introduction of tasteful midriffs and cut out dresses.
My outfit planning this year was very last minute, so my mum and I were making a dress the day before. I have been loving white and gold, bows and one shoulder dresses so I managed to design an outfit that incorporated all elements and would match a headpiece I had made a month earlier by Kim Weibenga. Without realising, this outfit had been in the pipeline for quite some time, as I had met Kim at the Caulfield Member’s Millinery night in September and we designed the piece for my love of white and gold.
The morning started off early at my favourite hair salon – Heading Out Hair & Beauty in Fitzroy who created another masterpiece for the day. Bonnie and I then made our way in to the track and just managed to make it in time for the end of the fashions competition due to traffic. The vibe around the Westfield Style Stakes photography lounge was incredible, with so many stunning outfits and people having fun with their friends in the Squad competition.
After having my photo’s taken, we headed off to the David Jones Marquee to have a champagne and eagerly await if I would join Bonnie in the finals of the Styles Stakes competition. With great excitement, I later received a text message saying I was a finalist in the competition which then eventuated to me winning the Ladies Competition – I couldn’t believe it!
Caulfield Cup Day was again, one of the greatest days on the calendar!
