One of the most asked questions from people heading to the races is “how do you last an entire day at the races in heels?”
Most of the time I regret my choice of shoe but I soldier on through the day before hobbling home, cursing myself for deciding I had to wear those shoes whilst I hobble around for the remainder of the week.
If you aren’t competing in the Fashions on the Field, it’s all about shoes that are comfortable but also allow you to head to dinner or an after party without it looking like you are taking part in some form of a strange fire walking procession.
Here are my best tips to get you through the carnival:
1. Try a Block Heel – I love a block heel and so do my feet. Not only are they super comfortable and sturdy but they are also a key trend this season.
2. Wear a slight platform – Not only do they give you a little more padding, they also give you a little extra height which is always very welcome. Be sure to keep the platform quite minimal as they can look tacky if they are too high.
3. Strap it in – A good strap around the ankle can keep your foot locked in and limits your foot slipping back and forth in your shoe. The balls of your feet will be thank you tomorrow I promise.
4. Please please please don’t take off your shoes – you will look about as classy as a bottle of passion pop.
I have put together my hot list of comfortable shoes that will get you through this years carnival no matter what your budget is.
