This seasons new emerging trend is black on black – I know, as Anna Wintour would say, ‘Flowers for Spring, how revolutionary’. Black on Black really isn’t anything new, especially if you are from Melbourne, however it’s not a look we often see at the races.
Myer were the first to showcase this look back in August at the Spring/Summer Launch and it had my girlfriends and I talking. I don’t often wear black to the races, as it’s my time to shy away from my day to day blacks and go all out in colour but I couldn’t wait to put an outfit together.
With so much black in my wardrobe, I thought why not kick start the Spring racing calendar with a black on black outfit at Makybe Diva Stakes at Caulfield Racecourse and surprisingly it was my easiest outfit yet! I picked this statement cracked leather and crepe ASOS dress up over a year ago and finally it was the time to wear it. Pairing back with the must have boater also from ASOS and my favourite lace up Tony Bianco heels, I was ready to go. For those who love black like me, give it a go this carnival!
