It was this weekend last year that still brings a big smile to my face. It was the day I won the Myer Queensland State Final and won the experience of a life time.
I basically designed the outfit the week of the competition and I really had no expectations as I felt I looked a little more circus freak than chic! I tell you its always the last minute outfits you don’t feel confident in that seem to do well. I’m all for a last minute made rush and even buying accessories at the airport!
Entering Myer Fashions was always really daunting to me as they are such prestigious events and the standards are so high. Its nerve racking standing in front of designers you look up to, hoping they like what you have put together. The feeling you get is exciting and its so worth it when you hear your number or even a friends number be called out as a finalist.
The experience I won beyond the day was something I will always remember. Meeting amazing ladies from around Australia, sharing lots of laughs with Jeff Banks, waving from a horse drawn carriage down Swanston St and celebrating racing fashion in true celebrity style. This is something money can’t buy and should encourage every one to enter and give it a go.
With Queensland, Tasmania and South Australia already decided, you still have 2 more chances before the carnival comes to Melbourne to secure your spot this year. Check out my FOTF events page for details, I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with.
